Senior pastor of the Citadel Global Community Church, formerly known as the Latter Rain Assembly, Pastor Tunde Bakare, has cautioned the federal government against further targeting of promoters of #EndSARS, saying it’s a sign of regression.

In a sermon he delivered on Sunday, November 15 in his church on the elements of a progressive country, Bakare argued that the recent onslaught against #EndSARS promoters by the federal government was a sign that the country was already  on the path of regression.

He said: “Targeting and arresting citizens on trumped-up charges,  deploying court probes as a tool of intimidation,  and generally eroding our fragile peace, are deeply worrisome signs of regression. #EndSARS.”

The sermon was also tweeted on his twitter handle.

A number of #EndSARS promoters have been targeted for arrest, their account frozen including an attempt by the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) to cancel the business  registration of a leading #EndSARS promoter, Enough is Enough but erroneously got a wrong firm with similar name.

The CAC says it cancelled the business registration of Enough is Enough because it was registered as a trading company but deviated to doing what it was not registered for. Unfortunately for the CAC,  it’s target object was registered with the abbreviation  EiE project Nigeria not Enough is Enough, a name already taken by another firm. The CAC has since November 10 when it made the gaffe, kept mute for dropping the wrong hammer on the wrong target.

Bakare said the current state of affairs where citizens are oppressed in their country was unavceptable.

He said: “I urge all our young leaders from across the length and breadth of our nation, North, South, East and West, to join hands with the progressive forces in our polity for a  New Nigeria, the dream nation that it is your destiny and birthright to breathe to life. #EndSARS”
