Social media activist VeryDarkMan (Martin Otse) has carpeted Falashade, daughter of Bola Tinubu, for telling Nigerians not to protest against hunger but to give the President another three years before assessing his performance.

Folashade, self-appointed Nigeria’s first daughter and market-leader general,  urged market women in Lagos on Sunday to stop their children from participating in the nationwide hunger protest beginning on August 1.

She said: “There is nothing like protest in Lagos State because the government of Lagos State is making us proud. They are making us happy, they give us a sense of belonging.

“The government at the center just assumed office. Before you say a government is not doing well, let it last three years, at least.

“Prevention is better than treatment. We will not suffer loss of lives. Let everyone warn her children.”

VeryDarkMan released a video statement on Monday in which he accused Folashade of overlooking the severe economic challenges Nigerians are facing under Tinubu’s administration neck deep in squandermania.

“Did you realize that people will not be complaining if your father’s first year in office was not the worst in Nigeria’s presidential history?” VeryDarkMan asked.

He urged Folashade to persuade her father to address the growing economic challenges and avoid making the situation worse.

He also cited Tinubu’s opposition to fuel price increase and leading a protest against it in 2012 during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan, suggesting similar protests are warranted now  because of the government’s bad policies.

Verydarkman stressed the importance of standing up for human rights but  counselled against violence during the protest.

His words: “Warn your father, tell him that Nigerians are suffering. Talk to Daddy for us. Did you warn your dad when he went to protest against Goodluck Jonathan when he raised the fuel price from N65 to N87?

“The only thing I won’t approve of is that the protesters are violent. Stand for your rights, Nigerians.

“Protest, but don’t loot. Look at the prices of things. Fuel is N700 plus, and it is still not available. See the queues in gas stations. You can’t increase the price of things, and they will still not be available.”
