Football Pundit and former Arsenal striker, Robin van Persie has described West Ham boss, David Moyes as a ‘fantastic person and a fantastic coach.’

The former Netherlands international made this known after the Scot guided the Premier League outfit, who are struggling domestically into the Europa Conference League (ECL) final on Thursday night.

The Hammers scored the only goal of the second leg semi-final encounter against AZ Alkmaar through defender, Pablo Fornals, in the injury-time to seal a narrow 1-0 win.

Prior to the win, however, Moye’s side had defeated the Dutch side 2-1 in the first leg of the encounter played at London Stadium and therefore progressed to the final of ECL after a 3-1 aggregate win.

West Ham will now play Fiorentina, in the final at the Eden Arena in Prague on June 7, after the Serie A side edged past Swiss club, Basel, in a dramatic fashion in the other semi-final.

Van Persie speaking with BT Sport after Moye did the double over AZ Alkmaar, said he believes the tactician, who was sacked after just 10 months in charge at Manchester Trafford, deserves success with the Hammers.

He said: “I’m really pleased for David Moyes. I worked under him for a year, he’s a fantastic person and a fantastic coach as well.

“It was difficult for him at Manchester United but I’m really pleased for him because he loves the game. He’s a really good coach.

“I’m just really happy for him. He deserves it. You’re a great man and a great coach.”
