Liverpool head to Paris this weekend to face 13 times winner, Real Madrid at Stade de France in what seems like a rematch of the 2018 final, which the Spanish outfit won 3-1.

The Reds who have since the defeat, developed into one of the best outfits in European club football will, however, be happy Virgil van Dijk is fully fit for the Champions League final.

The Dutch defender has not featured for the Merseyside club, since he got a knock during the Emirates FA Cup final victory over Chelsea at Wembley on May 14.

Nonetheless, Van Dijk said he is ready to face the Spanish champions, Real Madrid in Paris on Saturday evening.

“Yeah, I’m fine, absolutely fine,” Van Dijk told Liverpoolfc.com on Wednesday.

“No issues and very excited for Saturday, of course.”

After missing majority of 2020-21 due to a serious knee injury, Van Dijk has made 50 appearances for the Reds and eight for the Netherlands so far in 2021-22 season.

The 30-year-old defender feels the two-weeks break he has had so far, has helped him to recover for the UCL final in France after a hectic season.

“My body is definitely enjoying a little bit of rest after playing so many games, so many tense moments, and I think getting a little knock after the FA Cup final was maybe a sign that my body needed to have a rest.

“I feel absolutely fine now and looking forward to, hopefully, a special evening.” Van Dijk said.
