Ahead of the signing of a bill that will depose him and four others as kings, Kano Emir Aminu Ado Bayero is already making plans to exit the state, according to sources close to the palace.

Other Emirs affected by the new bill are those of Rano, Karaye, Gaya, Bichi.

The Kano House of Assembly had on Thursday amended the Kano State Emirs (Appointment and Deposition) Law that was promulgated by the then Governor Abdullahi Ganduje administration in 2019.

According to a copy of the repealed bill, “All offices created in the newly created five Emirates under the repealed principal law, dated 5th December, 2019 are hereby abrogated. All appointments made under the said repealed Principal Law dated 5th December, 2019 are hereby set aside.”

Once the law is signed, Aminu Ado Bayero ceases to become the Emir of Kano, paving way for Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II, the 14th Emir of Kano to take the throne.

Sources say Sanusi is already making plans for a grand entry into Kano from his base in Lagos.

“Emir Sanusi is currently preparing for his return to the throne. Although he is not in town at the moment, we are expecting his return on Friday,” one of the sources said as per Daily Trust report.

According to the report, Sanusi wants his entry into Kano to be grand, hence elaborate preparations

Sanusi, who fell out with ex-Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano, was dethroned in 2020.

However, the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) controlled Kano House of Assembly repealed the law that removed him as Emir on May 23, 2024.
