University coursemates marry as ASUU strike continues

University lectures commenced the strike in April and the industrial action has now entered day 207 with no hope of a possible call-off in sight

A Nigerian University female student and her male coursemate, have decided to walk down the aisle, while they wait for a resolution to the ongoing Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) industrial action.  

The excited young lady announced that she got married to her heartthrob on social media recently, as the ongoing ASUU strike enters day 207 with no hope of a possible call-off in sight.  

Taking to her TikTok handle, she shared different pictures taken with her then boyfriend before the industrial action commenced, some of which were taken on the university campus. 

She then followed it up with videos of scenes from their traditional wedding and another one showing the new couple in English outfits as they set out for their white wedding.

The elated bride captioned the first post, ” Before ASUU”, while she tagged the post from the wedding scene, “During ASUU”. 

After her post went viral online, it elicited mixed reactions from the online community, with some wishing the newly wedded couple well, while others wondered how they will cope financially. 

A netizen identified as hazzymama said: “Una get money now, me wey be say sapa don leave trademark for my life .congratulations dear .” 

Another Instagram user, named Marvel wrote: “This one wey everybody dey marry for this strike e be like say na only me no marry o congratulations.” 

Elohobackup opined only public university students can get married as he said: “Na only government students they marry we private school students still dey school, what a life.” 

Adesewa♥️ also added: Na all of you don marry finish may God have mercy on me, e come be like say I no take my life serious.” 

Another internet user, PrincessOnyinyechi wrote: “Omo we way be course rep go Dey find lecture hall for una then una go come Dey date lowkey Omo.” 

While Mercillina said: “The 15th video I’m seeing today about asuu congratulations.”
