UNILAG, NGO sensitize girls on science

  The Science Ambassadors Foundation (SAF) and the faculty of Science, University of Lagos will be hosting a science awareness training for 5,000 female students to stimulate their interest in science.

In a release signed by SAF media coordinator David Oputah, the event will hold on June 15 at the University of Lagos. The wife of the Ogun State governor, Olufunso Amosun will declare it open.

SAF Country Director, Nnabugwu C. P said the event aimed at providing the right science orientation to show its applications in industries.

“We expect this event to be a catalyst that will forever remain in the minds of the participants, proving that Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics are the unifying factor for our national development,” she said.

She added that a technology outfit, Tri-continental Limited has agreed that work with them while the company’s chief executive officer, Professor Toyin Ashiru would share his entrepreneurial story to the young stars.

“We hope to make science a beautiful subject to our youths in order to churn out more scientists especially ladies from Nigeria and enhance the road map to our industrialisation,” Nnabugwu said.

UNILAG dean of science faculty,Professor Adedotun Adekunle said the university would provide will provide career advice and discuss the numerous opportunities available to a scientist beyond medicine and engineering.
