Certain unanswered crucial questions led to the electoral defeat of President Goodluck Jonathan, according to former Anambra State governorship aspirant, Emeka Etiaba, now a capital market consultant in Lagos.
He said Jonathan did a commendable job in infrastructure provision but failed to tackle insecurity and corruption.
Etiaba told TheNiche in an interview in Lagos that the All Progressives Congress (APC) was smart enough to narrow its campaign issues to corruption and insecurity.
“If they didn’t do that, maybe Jonathan wouldn’t have lost because based on infrastructure development the government has not done badly,” he said.
He lauded the election but expressed displeasure at the abuse in Nnewi constituency.
“We have done very well because we moved from one elected government to another and we have been able to at least on our own effect a change of leadership in Nigeria without the barrel of the gun.”
In his view, Nigeria did well, especially as Jonathan conceded defeat and said anyone fighting on his behalf would be wasting his time, “so everybody conformed.’’
However, Etiaba added that in his constituency, Nnewi in Anambra State, “the election was a sham. There was no election, rather the highest bidder wins here.”
