Villareal coach, Unai Emery has rejected the chance to manage Premier League side,  Newcastle United, as he pledges his loyalty to his current team.

Newcastle was recently acquired from its English owner, Mike Asley, by Saudi Arabia owners, who sacked the coach, Steve Bruce, after the takeover.

The new owners have since been looking for a suitable replacement, and the club have been linked with several managers

Top on the list is Leicester City manager, Brendan Rodgers, there were others like former Chelsea coach, Frank Lampard, Eddie Howe, Lucien Favre, and Paulo Fonseca.

While those leads have since cooled down, the approach for Unai Emery has gathered storm, the Spanish coach, who had a brief stint at the Emirate Stadium, has, however, rejected the offer.

In a statement released via his social media accounts, the 50-year-old confirmed that he is staying at Villarreal putting paid to the speculation that he will be in charge of Newcastle soon.

“Villarreal is my home and I am 100% committed to it. Honestly, I am thankful for the interest of a great club, but I am even more thankful to be here and that’s why I told [Villarreal president] Fernando Roig my decision to keep playing a part in this project.” Emery said.

Villarreal currently play in the Champions League and are second to Manchester United in Group F just on head to head rule. They are both on seven points, while Unai Emery’s side, has a better goal difference.

Newcastle by contrast have no European commitment and are second to the last in the Premier League table (19th), they are , however, expected to reinforce in January when the transfer window opens.
