UK based Nigerian doctor, Olufunmilayo, survives fake rape allegation of Dr Bola Aseyan

Dr Olufunmilayo Ogunsanya, popularly known on Twitter as #OurFavOnlineDoc, has been cleared of rape, abusive relationship charges levelled against him by Dr Bola Aseyan.

The court said Mr Ogunsanya’s professional record and ability to continue medical practice in the UK have not been impaired by the 2020 false allegations.

Recall that in the mid of the 2020 COVID, a Nigerian female medical doctor, Bola Aseyan, alleged that she was sexually and emotionally abused by her UK host, Dr Olufunmilayo Ogunsanya, for the period she was holidaying in his UK home.

The man, also a medical doctor based in the UK, and a social media influencer, strongly refuted the charge, alleging that the sex between them was mutually consented.

She first shared the allegation on Twitter before reporting to the UK police.

She had said: “Your favourite influencer (Dr Funmilayo) has sexually and emotionally abused me for so long, and I’ve been hiding it. I didn’t want to say anything because I DESPERATELY didn’t want to be in the news for anything bad here. I kept telling myself it would be over soon. I cannot take it anymore!,” she said on June 29, 2020.

But in a rebuttal, Dr Funmilayo said the sex between them was mutually consented the day she arrived in the UK after a bottle of red wine.

“So, the day she came we were in the kitchen at a point and then she saw a red wine in the fridge. She said, ‘oh this would be nice, may be we should try it together.’And I said okay that will be nice. So, I went to my room and I think she went to the living room or so, and at some point later, I messaged her to check she’s not bored and she said she’s not watching TV anyway. So, I said okay she can come over with the wine. And then she came with the wine and we had it together, and unfortunately, sex happened,” he said.

After reporting the matter to the UK police which later ended up transferring it to the country’s medical tribunal, the panel ruled:” the  panel considered over 20 claims raised against Mr Ogunsanya and found no evidence to substantiate any of them, after several sittings and adjournments.”

Dr Olifunmilayo has now returned  to Twitter after three years of break which he used on dealing with the fake rape llegation.

He said on his Twitter handle: “First time waking up free.

First time waking up happy.

First time after 3years of horror.

Truly free. Truly happy.

After three years of daily hell.

But as the Good Book said:

“When the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream.”

It all still feels like a dream.

If you have people and/or events that bring you true happiness in this life, pls truly value them and kindly appreciate them while you can.

Because you will never know what true happiness and freedom is – until it is snatched away from you and you had no hope at all of it ever coming back. Good morning.

And yes, happy new year.

Because the year actually just started.-
