The Obol Lopon of Ugep, His Royal Majesty Obol Ofem Eteng Ubana, has commended Dr Joseph Tarkon, a Nigerian-born, American-based doctor and presiding pastor of the City of David Parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), in Atlanta, Georgia, for pulling doctors within and outside Nigeria and resources to provide free medical care to his subjects.
This is as the monarch also expressed excitement about the evangelistic crusade to be held in his domain on Friday, Dec 15.
The crusade is part of a weeklong event that started with a leadership training for Christian leaders and young people.
The monarch made the comment when Dr Tarkon led other members of his team to pay a courtesy visit at the Obol Lopon palace on Wednesday.

The Obol Lopon said: “I am happy to have you here. I am happy that you came to see me to relay the good messages. My prayer is for the people to recognise the importance of this crusade and to come and listen to God.”
Giving his personal testimony of God’s grace in his life, the king said: “I have been a member of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in Lagos while I was in the Army. I was attending a Redeemed Church at Onigbongbo. I know what God did for me when I was worshiping in that church.
“I told God to change where I was working by way of posting. And God answered and changed where I was working and took me to the presidency when General Abdulsalami Abubakar was the Head of State. I worked there for one and half years until General Abdulsalami left. Later, I worked at the Army Headquarters in Abuja as one of the Chief Clerks in the department of Policy and Plans.
“All these were some of the things God did for me because it was quite difficult to work in certain places in the Army. But when I was in the Redeemed Christian Church of God, I had all those postings, a favour from God.
“So, I’m happy to have you here. I am happy and exceedingly excited for the great things you have come to do for my community. I pray that our children will receive the light through God’s visitation so that our land will change and have a new name,” he said.
Earlier, Dr Tarkon appreciated the monarch for the warm reception given to him and his team. He said the mission to Yakurr was to give back what God has given him.
He said: “We came here to be a blessing to Yakurr and its environs and to give back what God has given us freely and gladly.”
Those in the entourage of Dr Takon included: Dr and Dr (Mrs) Mabo who came from the U.S., Dr John Emmanuel also from the U.S, Honourable Emmanuel Ibeshi, a former House of Representatives member and first national publicity secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Pastor Ben Arikpo, the coordinator of the event, and others.
