Ejike Ugboaja has been elected as the players’ representative on the incoming board of the Nigeria Basketball Federation.
The election which was held at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Abuja National stadium on Tuesday also saw Adamu Janlong emerge as the Technical Representative.
The process which was supervised by Olumide Bamiro (Assistant Director, Federation of Elite Athletes) saw Ugboaja polling a total of 17 votes while Jalong polled 26 votes.
Both emerged unopposed with Ugboaja contesting as the sole candidate for the players representative.
Peter Owokere from Akwa Ibom State withdrew on the floor of the election to pave way for Adamu.
Speaking after the election, Ugboaja declared the process as free and fair which will provide a platform for an all-inclusive federation.
On his part, Adamu expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Youth and Sports under Barrister Solomon Dalung for providing a conducive environment for a true democratic process.
Zonal, Vice Presidential and Presidential elections are expected to hold on June, 13, 2016.
