Twelve countries qualify for AFCON 2023

Following their qualifications on Sunday, at least 12 countries have booked their places for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations that will be hosted by Cote d’Ivoire in January next year.

This follows the completion of qualifying fixtures this weekend.
In Group A, Nigeria and Guinea-Bissau would contest for the title in Ivory Coast.

The Super Eagles outscored Sierra Leone 3-2, while Guinea-Bissau pipped Sao Tome and Principe 1-0 to qualify with 10 points from 5 games.

Zambia joined South Africa as another COSAFA nation going to the finals. Equatorial Guinea and Egypt also qualified on Matchday 5.

Ivory Coast booked their place in the finals tournament as hosts, while defending champions Senegal, Morocco, Algeria, Burkina Faso and Tunisia complete the list.

A total of 24 teams will qualify to play in the final tournament.

Sao Tome and Principe, Botswana, Lesotho and Madagascar, Libya, Liberia, Comoros, South Sudan, and Ethiopia, are already out of the tournament
