African representative, Tunisia produced a batting performance in the first match of Group D of the 2022 World Cup, to hold Denmark to a 0-0 draw in a match played at the Education City Stadium in Al Rayyan, Qatar.

Despite fielding many Premier League regulars, dominating possession and having more shots on target, the much-fancied Danes were unable to breach the rear guard of the resolute Tunisians.

Both teams had goals ruled out for offside, but Denmark’s Andreas Cornelius came closest to separating the two sides, he, however, missed the chance from just a yard out.

There was a mild drama in the 95th minute, when the centre referee, Cesar Ramos, was advised by the VAR officials to check the pitchside monitor for a potential penalty for Denmark.

He, however, stuck with his original decision and awarded a goal-kick to Tunisia, waving away the handball penalty appeal.

Denmark after the stalemate will now need to find some form if they are to progress from a group that also includes World Cup holders, France.

Meanwhile, The other two teams in Group D, France and Australia will face each other in the second encounter in the group at the Al Janoub Stadium at 19:00 GMT.
