Trump appoints US senator, Marco Rubio as Secretary of State

Trump had earlier considered making Rubio his running mate during the 2024 presidential election but later settled for JD Vance

United States President-elect,  Donald Trump has announced that Florida senator, Marco Rubio will serve as Secretary of State during his second term in office. 

He made this known via a statement he shared on his official X handle on Wednesday.

In the post, the 45th American president said Rubio is a highly respected leader, and a very powerful voice for freedom.

Speaking via his verified social media page, Trump tweeted, “It is my Great Honor to announce that Senator Marco Rubio, of Florida, is hereby nominated to be The United States Secretary of State.

“Marco is a Highly Respected Leader, and a very powerful Voice for Freedom. He will be a strong Advocate for our Nation, a true friend to our Allies, and a fearless Warrior who will never back down to our adversaries.

“I look forward to working with Marco to Make America, and the World, Safe and Great Again!”

Rubio was Trump’s rival during the 2016 elections.

The President-elect also considered making him his running mate during the 2024 presidential election but later settled for JD Vance.

Trump was re-elected to the White House after defeating Vice President, Kamala Harris of the Democrats.
