The Justice Obadugu-led Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Akure has fixed June 6, 2022 for the commencement of hearing of the petition filed before it for determination in the just concluded bye-election in Akure South/North Federal Constituency election.
Justice Obadigu announced the date shortly after delivering a report on the conclusion of pre-trial conference in Akure, the Ondo State Capital today.
The House of Representatives Candidate of Peoples Democratic Party, Barrister Olumuyiwa Adu had recently challenged the victory of the Candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), Mayokun Lawson Alade at the Election Petition Tribunal in Akure

Adu, Candidate of PDP narrowly lost with 1,812 votes to the winner and candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), Mayokun Lawson Alade in an election believed to be heavily induced by vote buying and other bridges of provisions of 2010 Electoral Act in the last bye-election.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Mayokun Lawson Alade winner (APC) of the poll but Adu rejected the results of the election, saying he will reclaim his “stolen mandate” at the Tribunal
The tribunal while announcing the commencement of the hearing said the counsel to the petitioner (Olumuyiwa Adu), Olumide Ogida would be allowed three days to present his witnesses on June 6, 7 and 8 while Mayokun Lawson Alade counsel, Abiola Olawole Olaniyi was given two days to present his witnesses on 13th and 14th of June, 2022.
The second respondent (APC) counsel, Alabi Bankolewas given two days between 15th and 16th June while Independent National Electoral Commission was given one day, 16th or 17th June, 2022.
All the parties involved had told the Tribunal that they have applied for Subpoena of witnesses intend to call to testify at the Tribunal and that issues for determination documents have been filed.
