At the Royal Antwerp of Belgium stadium, the Happy One, Jose Mourinho, was sad.

Reason: His Tottenham Hotspurs team was roundly beaten during the Europa League match with the Royal Antwerp on Thursday night.

On the match, which Spurs lost 0-1, Mourinho disclosed that he wanted to make 11 changes at halftime.

Mourinho made four subs at halftime and a fifth within 20 minutes of restart, though an equalizer did not arrive in Belgium.

On the poor performance of his side, the Portuguese manager, who hooked Dele Alli, Steven Bergwijn, Giovani Lo Celso, and Carlos Vinicius at the break and Gareth Bale 12 minutes later, was loss of words.

Spurs were better with Harry Kane, Erik Lamela, Heung-min Son, Lucas Moura, and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg on the pitch, though Antwerp limited true danger and Spurs finished the match having put only two of 15 shots on target.

On his team’s game of the night, Mourinho told NBC: “You know what our best team is, I always like to think the players deserve an opportunity.

“We have a big squad. It’s also there opportunity to catch the chance with both hands and ask for more. (After) tonight my future choices are going to be very easy.”

Tottenham hosts Brighton on Sunday before heading to Bulgaria for a UEL match with Ludogorets Razgrad, followed by a trip to West Brom.
