Toledo University Law School honours Tunji Abayomi, three others on 100 years anniversary

The University of Toledo College of Law, Ohio, United States of America will on Friday honoured Dr Tunji Abayomi, Human Rights Activist and Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council for Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko with the 2021 Distinguished Alumnus Award.

Other three Americans to be honoured include Catherine Martineau ’77, ’81 Henry Herschel Community Commitment Award, Joseph P. Dawson ’81, Distinguished Toledo Lawyer Award and Joseph K. Cole ’10, UToledo Emerging Leader Award

The programme will commence on Thursday, October 7 with a Question and Answer with the Dean.

The University of Toledo College of Law, Ohio, United States is celebrating its100 years this week from 1921 to 2021. In a statement signed by William L.pierce 99,’09, Associate  Vice president of Alumni  Engagement, Executive  Director and Lifetime  Member, University of Toledo Alumni Association said the college’s Distinguished Alumni Award honoree goes to Dr Tunji Abayomi ’79.

According to him, Abayomi was selected for the award from over 165,000 living  Rocket Alumni for his extraordinary career accomplishments and impact in his community.

 His words: “We are extremely proud to honour you with this exclusive award. We will celebrate you and your fellow awardees at Homecoming weekend  2021, to be held from October  7-9 2021.

“Your participation is requested in the following activities, in addition to any other relevant events sponsored by the College of Law. On Thursday, October 7, 2021, there will be a College  of Law breakfast or lunch, during which you will be recognised and Meeting  with UToledo international students 
 

“On Friday, October 8, 2021 inauguration of Dr Gregory Postel as the 18th  president of the University  of Toledo VIP Reception  for Alumni  Awardees Alumni  Association  Homecoming  Awards Gala.

A prominent human rights lawyer, Micheal Frank is to receive the award on behalf of Dr Tunji Abayomi. 

According to Abayomi, “While I was in Law School Toledo Law School about 1978, Frank who saw me, listened to me as a foreign student with an accent and an unlikely employee nonetheless wagered his faith in my ability and employed me as a staff of Advocates for Basic Legal Equality (ABLE), then as the Head of the Agency.”

The University was established in 1872 in Toledo in Ohio, United States of America while its Law School was established in 1921 and has been training Lawyers since that time.

Abayomi was previously honoured in 2005 among nine changing leaders including the Investor of Micro Surgery, Professor Julius Jacdason, Professor of Surgery at Mount Sinai Medical Center, New York.
