Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has reportedly met with the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu in London.

The meeting, according to multiple sources, also had Governors Samuel Ortom of Benue and Seyi Makinde of Oyo in attendance.

The relationship between Wike and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has been problematic. Attempts to fix the broken relationship continues to drag, a situation that has stalled Atiku from constituting his campaign council. Tinubu has already named a campaign director general and other key officials for his campaign.

According to reporting by Vanguard Newspaper, details of the meeting were not yet revealed. But said it may not be unconnected with potential alliance of Wike to give support for Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election while still remaining in the PDP.

It is still unclear how Wike hopes to navigate his support for PDP in Rivers State while supporting the APC for the presidency. This is because Wike’s main political rival, Rotimi Amaechi holds sway in Rivers All Progressives Congress (APC) who may refuse to cede any space for him in the party.
