Nigeria’s President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has congratulated Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen, after his equaliser against Udenese helped his club claim their third Italian Serie A title.

Tinubu, who is billed to be sworn in as the President and Commander-in-Chief on May 29, in a recent social media post hailed the Super Eagles forward for the feat.

In the now-viral Twitter message posted on his official handle @ABATofficial, the former Lagos State governor labelled Osimhen the ‘new King of Serie A’

He tweeted: “I think we can all agree that there was another coronation in Italy where our son, Victor Osimhen, claimed the crown as the new King of Serie A! The real deal, oridán ganganas younger folks may describe him; Victor has continued the fine tradition of Nigeria’s footballing excellence on the global stage.

“We are all proud of him and wish him well in what is already a remarkable career,”

On Sunday, Osimhen surpassed George Weah’s 46 goals to become the highest-scoring African player in the Italian topflight history after

scoring his 47th goal in Serie A from the penalty spot.

The Nigerian International thought he had missed the Partenopei’s best chance for victory when he had a second-half penalty saved by Lazio keeper, Pietro Terracciano.

However, a foul on his strike partner, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia gave him the chance to atone for his miss earlier and he hammered home at the second asking, ensuring his team’s long-awaited ‘Scudetto’ party was capped with another three points.

Having ended Napoli’s wait for another league title since 1990, Coach Luciano Spalletti fielded a much-changed lineup for the encounter.

Napoli who next play Monza on Sunday, with the latest victory are now 17 points above second-placed Lazio, after taking their points tally to

83 point.
