Tinubu prayed that God will grant the family of the deceased and Delta state, the fortitude to bear the loss
President Bola Tinubu has sent a condolence message to the family of former Executive Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr. Cairo Ojuogboh,, who died on Wednesday night.
TheNiche had earlier reported that the All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain and former member of the House of Representatives, who represented Ika federal constituency of Delta State died while watching the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) semi-final match between Nigeria and South Africa.
His demise was confirmed by his political associate and former chairwoman of the NDDC, Lauretta Onochie.
She said: “We were told that as when a penalty kick was awarded against Nigeria during the AFCON match with South Africa during Wednesday’s semi-final clash in Bouake, Ivory Coast, he slumped and passed on.”
Reacting to the death of Ojuogboh, President Tinubu in a statement signed by his spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale, said he received the news of his passing with a heavy heart.

The statement reads: “It is with a heavy heart that President Bola Tinubu receives the news of the passing of Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, former Executive Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), who died on Wednesday.”
Ngelale went on to say Tinubu asked God to grant the family of the deceased and Delta state, the fortitude to bear the loss.
“President Tinubu condoles with the Ojougboh family and the government and people of Delta State over this tragic loss.
“While praying for the peaceful repose of the departed, President Tinubu comforts his family and urges them to find strength and hope in God Almighty, who presides over the affairs of men, as well as in the cherished memories and legacy of the late APC chieftain.” the statement further read.
