Abayomi said without a primary, and secondary school certificate, it is clear by any objective standard that the aspirant (Tinubu) has enough education to be Nigeria’s president

A Constitutional lawyer and chieftain of the All Progressive Congress, (APC) Dr Tunji Abayomi, has said that the national leader of the party, Bola Tinubu, is eminently qualified to be Nigeria’s next president.
According to him, it is unequivocally clear that Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu possesses the ability to read, write, understand and communicate in the English language which qualified him by the Constitution to run for the President even without his uncontestable University degree.
Abayomi who is also a Human Rights Activist in a statement titled ‘For Proper Understanding’ while restating his unalloyed support for Tinubu’s presidential ambition, said you don’t need a certificate to qualify to run for President of Nigeria, what you need is a confirmation that you have education, howsoever acquired that is up to “at least School Certificate level or its equivalent”.

He went on: “Thus without Primary, Secondary School Certificate if it’s clear by an objective standard that the aspirant (Tinubu) has enough education capability to function in government he will ordinarily be qualified to run for President.
“I made this clear in January 2015 when interest focused on General Buhari’s (as he then was) education qualification. I spoke then as a member of the Presidential Screening Committee of APC.
“For the avoidance of doubt, education qualification up to School Certificate or its equivalent, under our contested Constitution’s interpretation section 318 includes Grade II Teacher’s Certificate, City and Guilds Certificate; Primary Six School Leaving Certificate or equivalent plus service in public or private sector in any capacity acceptable to INEC for not less than 10 years and attendance at courses for periods not less than one year; ability to read, write and communicate in English to the satisfaction of INEC or even any other qualification acceptable to INEC,” Abayomi explained
