President Bola Tinubu has condemned the bomb attacks, which resulted in the loss of lives and the maiming of other citizens in the Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.

TheNiche had reported on how an estimated 30 persons were killed and about 100 injured in dual suicide attacks in Borno state. Police sources however put the number of deaths at six and 15 injured in one of the attacks.

The victims were killed or wounded when suicide bombers attacked wedding and funeral ceremonies in the state.

The Emir of Gwoza Local Government Area in Borno state, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Mohammed Shehu Timta, was quoted as confirming that the multiple suicide attacks were carried out at various locations, including a wedding reception and a burial ceremony in Gwoza town. The wedding was said to have taken place at a venue in Tashan Mararaba, Gwoza town, Borno State.

In a statement issued on Sunday by his spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, Tinubu said his government will not allow the nation to slither into an era of fear, tears, sorrow, and blood.

He said his administration is adopting necessary measures to secure citizens, emphasizing that efforts will be redoubled to ensure that those who trouble the nation, dispatching precious lives, and disrupting law and order are completely removed.

He described the attacks as desperate acts of terror and a clear manifestation of the pressure mounted against terrorists and the success achieved in degrading their capacity to launch offensives.

The President declared that the purveyors of violence will be punished and that the cowardly attacks are only but isolated episode.

The statement added, “The President stated that his administration is taking necessary measures to secure citizens, emphasizing that efforts will be redoubled to ensure that those who trouble the nation, dispatching precious lives, and disrupting law and order are completely removed.

“President Tinubu condoles with the victims of the attacks, the families of the deceased, as well as the government and people of Borno State.”
