President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called for understanding and cooperation from Nigerians amid the prevailing economic realities in the country.

He made the plea during his first media chat with journalists in Lagos since his inauguration in May 2023.

According to the president, Nigeria is moving forward regardless of what his critics say about his economic policies

He also insisted that the country is on a path of recovery despite economic hardship.

Speaking on the 2025 N49.7 trillion budget proposal, Tinubu reiterated it is a restoration of hope.

Justifying his economic policies, the president said, “Nigeria is moving forward regardless of critics.

“This is a budget of restoration of hope, and Nigeria is on the path of recovery. We can’t finish the job in one calendar year.”

Earlier, TheNiche had reported that President Tinubu on Monday night explained why there is a need to urgently change Nigeria’s existing tax law.

According to him, the country cannot make the desired progress with the current obsolete tax laws.

“The tax reforms are here to stay. We cannot just continue doing what we did yesterday in today’s economy; we cannot retool the economy with old laws,” Tinubu said.
