Tinubu alerts Atiku wants to be a leader whose output won’t be felt at home

Bola Tinubu has warned voters not to elect Atiku Abubakar, his fellow contestant for Aso Rock, claiming Atiku wants to be a part time President domiciled in Dubai from where he will rule Nigeria just by coming and going.

Tinubu – who himself hops at will between Nigeria, the United Kingdom, and the United States in his private jets – pledged to a gathering in Kano that he would devote 100 per cent of his time and energy to serving his country, if elected.

The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) took a dig at the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), pledging he would not be a part time President spending half his time ruling from Dubai.

“I won’t be a part-time President who will share time between living in Dubai and Nigeria. I would concentrate attention and energy on confronting and surmounting Nigeria’s pressing challenges,” he said.

He was speaking to members of the Islamic group called Tijjaniyyah, as contained in a statement issued by Tinubu Campaign Media Officer Tunde Rahman.

Atiku, who lives in Yola, regularly travels in his own private jets to see his family in Dubai where they reside.

Tinubu’s mockery of his juncketing comes two months after his running mate Kashim Shettima described Atiku as a political tourist who only returns to Nigeria every electoral cycle.

Shettima referred to Atiku as a father he holds in high esteem but insisted Nigerians want a leader whose worth and output can be felt at home.

Tinubu promises better business environment

Tijjaniyyah endorsed Tinubu at the meeting and urged him to include members of the sect in his cabinet and other government positions if he wins the Villa.

The sect also sought his assistance in the reduction of Hajj fares and the competition  of Tijjaniyyah University under construction in Kano, per reporting by The PUNCH.

Tinubu said the answers to their demands are in his manifesto launched last Friday by President Muhammadu Buhari.

He assured Northern business leaders of a better business environment with effective policies, highlighting the link between Kano as a centre of commerce and his economic plan for Nigeria.

“There is a strong nexus between the place of Kano as a centre of prosperity and my plan for Nigeria. What I pledge is a revamped economy which will renew the hope of our people.

“Our country needs multiple centres of prosperity, and we intend to achieve that by adding value across all sectors of our economy.

“As I said during my speech at the Arewa House on Monday, Nigeria is sitting on a goldmine. There is no state in Nigeria that is lacking in one resource or another. We are determined to explore and exploit these resources to the maximum benefits of our people.

“Kano, for example, has huge agricultural potentials and important mineral resources underneath its ground like gold, silver, nickel, tin ore and columbite. Each of these, if properly harnessed, can add significantly to our economy as a country.”
