Three political parties petition against November 11 Election in Anambra

The Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal in Awka, Anambra State confirmed on Wednesday, December 13, 2017, that it has received three petitions on the November 18 governorship election in the state.
The petitions were against Governor Willie Obiano, the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The complaints by the plaintiffs from non-compliance to the Electoral Act, buying of vote and fraudulent canvassing of votes.
There were also complaints about the winner exceeding maximum spending of N200 million stipulated for election campaigns by the electoral law.
Secretary of the tribunal, Mr Surajo Gusau, who confirmed receipt of the petitions, said that the African Peoples Party (APP) and Mr Praise Okechukwu and his party, the Mega Progressives Party, filed their petitions.
Surajo also said that the candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) filed a petition against Governor Willie Obiano and INEC.
He said the suits were still being served and that dates for the hearing would be fixed after replies had been received.
However, prominent political parties in the election, namely: the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), the All Progressive Congress (APC) and the United Progressives Party (UPP) did not file any petition as at the time of filing this report.
