Nigerians have been challenged to think about what they would be remembered for in the building of a virile Nigeria that will be the envy of all and not always thinking of how to get their own share of non-existing ‘National Cake’.

Niger State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr. Jonathan Tsado Vatsa, gave the advice at the end of the year’s appraisal of the workings of his ministry, achievements and the ministry’s expectations for 2017.

He said, “Nigerians in the previous years when there was oil boom might have enjoyed what some of us today are hearing as ‘National Cake’ but unfortunately the cakes are no longer there and we must move on. So let us as individuals think of what we can do for Nigeria of today.

“Nigeria needed people with patriotic minds to move forward. Patriotism in the sense that we do things that unite us as a people and avoid acts capable of undermining our unity in diversity in our day to day words and actions.

“While President Muhammadu Buhari-led government at the federal level is working hard to lead Nigeria out of recession, Nigerians should show support instead of embarking on regional and sectional agitations to distract the government.

“In Niger State, the Governor Bello-led government has made tremendous improvement in the upgrading of the state-owned media organizations and has in the past one year spent millions of naira on the upgrading of Radio Niger and the Niger State Television, all in Minna.”

The commissioner during the meeting which took place at Shiroro Hotel, Minna advised members of staff, stakeholders in the ministry and citizens of Niger State to evolve strategies towards contributing their quota to the development of the state and Nigeria in general.
