Exactly what information. Minister, Lai Mohammed, said on November 30 about Nigeria not having weapons to prosecute the war against Boko Haram, and that Nigerians would be at the mercy of the terrorists, those were the remarks that landed Major General Olusegun Adeniyi in trouble.

Adeniyi, the former Theatre Commander in the fight against Boko Haram, had transmitted a desperate message to the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Tukur Buratai, notifying the chief that the “enemy had superior weapons, and that the intelligence on Boko Haram was wrong.” The broadcast was leaked to the social media, and that became the source of his problem.

A former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan on social media, Reno Omokri, said it was ironical that a man who made genuine attempt to improve the situation of the war is being victimized.

“How is justice served when you demote Major-General Olusegun Adeniyi for leaking a video of the struggle his men were going through while fighting Boko Haram, yet you retain and even promote the Service Chiefs that are responsible for the troubles he faced?” he said.

@OlusegunIfade said: “It’s the promotion and demotion of God that truly count! Thank you for speaking out and showing true leadership to your team while battling insurgents! The one lying at Lagos panel was promoted while the one at the war front, crying for weapon was demoted!”
