Terrorists show off new naira notes in viral video

Baleri was one of 19 terrorists that were declared wanted by the Defence Headquarters in November 2022.

A notorious terrorist leader, Machalla Baleri, has alleged that he has up to N10 million of the redesigned naira notes.

He appeared in a viral video on Wednesday with some companions displaying wads of new naira notes amid scarcity of the notes.

Baleri, who spoke in Hausa language in the two minutes 20 seconds video clip, claimed the amount he had could help him get more weapons.

Baleri was one of 19 terrorists that were declared wanted by the Defence Headquarters in November 2022.

The military high command also placed a N5 million bounty on each of the terrorists to encourage Nigerians to volunteer information that could lead to their arrest.

A journalist posted the video on his Twitter handle @Edrees4P on Thursday morning with a note which read, “Short video clip of a terrorist leader Baleri displaying new naira notes claiming that he has more than enough to buy more weapons.”

The video had yet to be verified as of press time.
