Senator Andy Uba’s political fortunes have come under threat plot by members of Anambra South Senatorial District to recall him from the National Assembly for alleged non-performance.

To this end the seven local government areas that make up the Senatorial Districts have been polarized by two factions, one in favour of Uba’s recall and the other against the plot.

Uba is one of the governorship aspirants on the platform of All Progressive Congress (APC) in Anambra State for the November 18, 2017 election in the area.

Already, signatures had been collected with affidavits and photocopies of their permanent voters’ card and forwarded to the Independence National Electoral Commission (INEC) in a bid to actualizing their goal.

However, a group known as Anambra South Peoples Mandate (ASPM), led by its acting Secretary, Mr. John Okoli, has dismissed the plot, contending that it was not only baseless but smacks of giving a dog a bad name to hang it.

“Our senator cannot be described as a failure in view of the empowerment he has made so far in the zone and as I speak with you we have also collected our own signatures with our own voters’ cards passing the vote of confidence on him before INEC,” he said.

But, the Dynamic Youth Organisation of Nigeria (DYON) in a communiqué signed by its Chairman, Alex Osaka; state secretary, Egwuatu Samuel, and National Organizing Secretary, Obi Egbeji, described Uba’s seven years at the National Assembly as a failure and highly nepotic.

After the meeting of all the stakeholders, community leaders and other interest youth groups of Anambra South Senatorial Districts under the umbrella of Dynamic Youth Organization of Nigeria (DYON) RC: 28957, and close observers on the political conducts of Uba held series of consultations with the people/electorates within the zone on March 18, 2017; which includes all the elderstatesmen, women leaders, trade unions, students union; community-based leaders, religious leaders, traditional leaders and artisans from the Senatorial District to look deeply into the stewardship of Uba.

Media Aide to Andy Uba, Mr. Uchem Obi, carpeted the traducers of his boss, contending that they are bereft of the workings of the National Assembly.

“You and I know that in Anambra State whenever there is an election, the hawks and infinitesimal groups who have tried severally and failed would always come in to peddle rumours and make undignifying statements against those who have covered the political millage in this contest.

“It is a fact that constituency project funds are not given to the legislators to execute, hence their arguments is baseless.

“Uba is not the governor of Anambra State and cannot be blamed for not executing projects. He is a lawmaker and represents the seven local government areas of Anambra South.

“In those local government areas we have over 100 communities and Andy Uba since in the National Assembly has made imputs of projects and democracy dividend for these communities in the budget”.
