Manchester United boss, Erik ten Hag has corrected the impression that he does not have what it takes to drop his number one goalkeeper, Andre Onana ahead of their Premier League trip to Newcastle on Saturday.
There have been calls for the Cameroonian to be benched following his recent error in the Red Devil’s 3-3 draw at Galatasaray in the Champions League in midweek
However, Ten Hag made it clear that he is ready to stick with the Cameroon international, ahead of Altay Bayindir and Tom Heaton.
According to the Dutch tactician, dropping Onana on the highly anticipated game will do damage to the keeper’s confidence.

When asked if he had considered dropping Onana, Ten Hag replied: “It won’t help him. Nobody is undroppable, that is also clear. But we have a strong belief that he will help us win trophies.
“I have trust in Tom and Altay, but in the Champions League Andre has so much experience with Ajax and last year with Inter Milan.”
Man United, who are currently in 6th on the log table will extend their lead over Newcastle who are 7th to 4 points with a win on Saturday. However, the Magpies will leapfrog the Red Devils if they are victorious in the encounter.
