Manchester United boss, Erik ten Hag was full of praise for his players despite losing 1-0 to Newcastle on Saturday night.

Anthony Gordon scored the only goal of the game in the 55th minute as the hosts leapfrogged the Red Devils on the Premier League log table.

United saw a late goal ruled out after Harry Maguire was caught offside.

However, it was a dominant display from the host despite the number of injuries suffered by the Magpies.

Ten Hag’s men after the loss dropped to seventh place, but the former Ajax boss refused to criticize his players after the encounter.

According to him, despite Newcastle’s dominance the game could have ended in a draw but for a disallowed goal.

He said: “This team is resilient. We have a plan and we keep going.

“I will talk with my team but we stayed in the game at the end. We had some good chances.

“We scored a goal, but it was offside so it could have been a draw.”

Meanwhile, Newcastle United manager, Eddie Howe has singled out the goal scorer of the match, Anthony Gordon for praise after his team’s win over Man United.

Speaking to TNT Sports after the game, Howe said Gordon was very good against the visitors.

He went on to say he was very happy that the striker is now scoring goals and getting the accolades he deserves.

He said: “He (Gordon) was very good again, up against a very good defender today in Wan-Bissaka.

“Physically he was so good today, it was a really good battle between the two of them.

“I am delighted he is scoring the goals now and getting the recognition he deserves.”
