Tems admits being naive when she started singing

Tems, however, noted that her management and family made sure she did not pay a price for her naivety

Popular Afrobeats singer, songwriter and record producer, Temilade Openiyi, better known as Tems, has opened up on her  early foray into the Nigerian music industry.

In an interview with Glamour Magazine Germany, the Grammy-winning artiste admitted that she was extremely naive at the beginning of her career.

She added that it took her time to learn how to navigate the music industry positively.

Speaking during the chat, Tems said, “I don’t want to lie. I was very naive at the beginning of my career – I just wanted to make good art. I had to learn how to navigate the music business in a healthy way.”

The ‘Essence’ crooner further noted during the interview that her management and family have been her backbone.

“I would say that it is both my management and my family that keep me grounded. Especially my family, my mother and my brother,” she added.
