Ogun State Police Command has said that a teenage boy allegedly shot a three-year-old girl to death at Kukudi Village, Imasayi in Yewa North Local Government Area of the state.
Spokesperson of Ogun State Police Command, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said on Friday in Abeokuta, the capital, that the shooter was 13 years old.
Oyeyemi further said the teenage boy allegedly shot the girl with a Dane gun which has been confiscated by the police.
The spokesperson added that the owner of the gun is a 45-year-old man and he has been taken in for negligence.

Oyeyemi did not reveal the owner’s name in the statement.
“Preliminary investigation showed that he loaded his Dane gun and kept it in an open place at the back of his house where children used to play.
“It was there that the 13-year-old picked the gun, pointed it at the deceased and pulled the trigger,” Oyeyemi said.
The Ogun police spokesperson added that the victim was taken to the General Hospital, Ilaro, where she was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.
