Gov. Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State has pledged mutual partnership with the members of the House of Assembly to ensure sustainable development of the state
Tambuwal spoke in Sokoto on Friday when he opened a 3-day post inaugural workshop organised for the 30 newly-elected lawmakers.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the workshop was organised by the state government in conjunction with USAID-sponsored non-governmental organisation, Leadership, Empowerment, Advocacy and Development (LEAD).
He said that “government is about collective responsibility by all the tiers of government and other stakeholders for the best interest of the people.
“We must, therefore, muster the courage and commit ourselves to the selfless service of the people to provide the needed social services to the people,’’ he said.
The governor said the workshop could not come at a better time than now considering the need to ensure vibrant legislations aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s greatly nurtured democratic ideals.
Tambuwal commended LEAD for its capacity building, which he said, had greatly improved governance in the state. (NAN)
