Taliban’s exploit may inspire Boko Haram to attempt overrunning Abuja, Nigerians say

Taliban fighters

Nigeria’s terrorists, Boko Haram, ISWAP, herdsmen and bandits, may have been inspired by the exploit of their fellow jihadists, Taliban, capturing almost all of Afghanistan within a week.

Taliban have taken at least 14 provincial capitals or what Nigerians will call state capitals in the country, and are only waiting for the last batch of American troops to leave the country before descending on the country’s capital, Kabul,

Nigerians see the prospect of the various insurgents in the country banding together to attempt what the Taliban is doing in Afghanistan

On Twitter, @nigeriasbest says: “I remember after September 11 and the focus was on Alqaeda and then Taliban….

“My boss at the time said it would extend to Nigeria…..I said impossible…

“Sadly he was right…..the NE and NW are under siege by ISWAP & Boko-Haram.”

@Ma_Lol says: “I’ve always equated taliban to boko haram, how certain are we won’t experience the Afghanistan situation in Africa in our lifetime?”

@comradeisaacmo says: “Nigerian Boko haram is going in the way of Afghanistan Taliban, yet the federal govt. of Nigeria is after Yoruba Nation & Biafra agitators. Misplaced priorities!”

@ChiefOzoekwe adds: “

Using the context of the ripple effects of Afghanistan finally falling to the Taliban, the effects of a destabilised Sahel under the control of Boko Haram & co. will spill over here to the south.

The humanitarian crisis there is crazy enough, imagine when B.Haram takes over fully.”
