Hub of Young African Leaders Initiative, a non-governmental organization set up by former President of United States of America, Barrack Obama, has appealed to the Nigerian youths to take up leadership positions to rescue the country from the hands of the clueless aging leaders.
The group said that if Nigerian youths fail to rise up and take up leadership positions, they will continue to be governed by the aged in the African continent.
Nigeria’s representative of the NGO, Shola Kehinde from Abuja, gave the advice during its inauguration in Minna, Niger State.
He called on Nigerian youths to wake up and participate fully in democratic governance and peace process in the nation.
He said, “The main reason President Obama established this initiative is to invest in the next generation of African leaders, and for them to take up roles in government.
“The essence is to support young African leaders to sour growth and prosperity, strengthen democratic governance, and enhance peace and security across the Sub-Saharan Africa. Nigerian youths must wake up now or continue to tolerate fading elders to cling continuously on power”.
But, the Niger State Hub Coordinator, Haruna Odokun, explained that currently the state has 50 members and seven officials as well as the 26th Hub to be inaugurated in the country.
