Smugglers are making law enforcement difficult for customs officers

A yet-to-be-identified man suspected to be a smuggler conveying a 2021 Model Toyota Hilux Vehicle with registration number 12H 567 FG (Ministry of Health) knocked down an officer of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), while on official duty in Kaduna.
This was confirmed in a statement issued by the spokesperson of the Kaduna Area Command, Aminu Muhammad.

According to him, the unfortunate incident occurred on Friday, November 12, around Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, Zaria, when the officers tried to stop the smuggler.
In an attempt by the smuggler to escape, he drove towards the officers, and knocked down one of them in the process.

Muhammad further said: “The injured officer was rushed to a nearby private hospital at Dan Magaji, in Zaria, where he received first aid treatment and he was eventually moved to Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital in Kaduna where he’s receiving further treatment and is recuperating.
He added that no arrest has been made as the assailant ran away.
Smuggling is an act of economic sabotage which undermines the revenue inflow of the government.
