A crisis meeting has been called up this Saturday in the aftermath of Super Eagles’ 4-4 draw with Sierra Leone in the Match Day 3 of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Benin on Friday.

The NFF president, Amaju Pinnick, summoned a meeting with the technical crew of the team for Saturday morning.

He had earlier addressed the players after the game and was reported to have charged the players to put the disappointment behind them and be ready to give their all and redeem their image in Freetown on Tuesday.

Team captain, Ahmed Musa, who was replaced by Kelechi Iheanacho in the 71st minute while the Eagles still led 4-1, apologised to Nigerians for the poor ending to the encounter:

“This has been a real shocker. I want to, on behalf of the entire team, apologise to the generality of Nigerians for this poor result.

“We will go to Freetown and do the needful.”
