Super Eagles get host nation, Ivory Coast in 2023 AFCON draw

Super Eagles who are placed in Group A will also face Equatorial Guinea and Guinea-Bissau

Nigeria’s Super Eagles were placed in Group A of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) during the draw for the competition on Thursday, October 12. 

They will face the host nation, Ivory Coast, Equatorial Guinea and Guinea-Bissau.

The draw for the football fiesta which was conducted at the brand-new Parc des Expositions, Abidjan saw 24 teams across the African continent evenly
divided into six groups. 

Egypt, the most decorated side in the competition will face Ghana, Cape Verde and Mozambique in Group B. 

Defending champions and first-time winner, Senegal are in Group C alongside Cameroon, Guinea and Gambia.

Group D comprises of North African side, Algeria, their West African counterpart, Burkina Faso,
Mauritania and Angola.

Tunisia, Mali, South Africa and
Namibia will fight to qualify for the next round of the competition from Group E.

In the final group (Group F) are World Cup semi-finalist, Morocco. DR Congo, Zambia and Tanzania.

The tournament will take place in January next year. 

Meanwhile, the Super Eagles will face Saudi Arabia today, October 13 in a friendly match at the Estádio Municipal de Portimão by 5pm Nigerian time.
