Kayode Adeyemi started life as Coach of Sunshine Stars with a win that snapped Plateau United’s unbeaten run.
The win made him cut a delighted figure at the Dipo Dina International Stadium on Sunday.
Kayode was an assistant to coach Deji Ayeni when Sunshine Stars suffered a 2-0 defeat away at the same opposition a fortnight ago. Following the departure of Ayeni for Akwa United, the management of the Owena Whales handed Kayode temporary charge of the team. Kayode was glad to start with Win
It was his first game of being in charge and a 78th-minute headed goal from Kolade Adeniji was required to help Sunshine Stars defeat 10-man Plateau United who had Haggai Kattoh sent off four minutes earlier.
“I am very happy. I know what the players can do and I am happy they did not disappoint”, Kayode told www.npfl.ng in gasps of breath induced by excitement.

On what changed from the side that lost to the same Plateau United before the midseason two weeks break, the Coach insisted that nothing gave way but perhaps a renewed determination by the players to make the difference.
“We did not change from the existing philosophy. I am glad we played on our own terms and dictated the game,” the delighted Kayode told www.npfl.ng.
“Even when we played the reverse fixture two weeks ago, we played very well too but I am happy that we have the result to show for it today. I give credit to the boys for what they have done,” he concluded.
The victory lifted Sunshine Stars to the 6th position as activities started for the second half of the season, while Plateau United remained in second spot on the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) standings.
