Sports Minister commiserates with Babangida after brother’s death

Babangida and his brother were involved in a devastating car accident on Thursday along the Kaduna-Zaria Road

The Honourable Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh, has extended his heartfelt condolences to former Super Eagles player and Olympics gold medalist, Tijani Babangida and his family, following the tragic loss of his brother, Ibrahim Babangida, in a fatal car accident.

Tijani, who is currently the President of the Professional Footballers Association of Nigeria (PFAN), was involved in a devastating car accident on Thursday along the Kaduna-Zaria Road.

The accident claimed the life of his younger brother, Ibrahim, leaving the football community in mourning.

Confirming the incident, former teammate and PFAN’s General Secretary, Emmanuel Babayaro, wrote: “Comrades! Let us be in prayers for our president, Tijani Babangida, who just had a ghastly motor accident along the Kaduna-Zaria Road.

“Ibrahim Babangida, his younger brother, died on the spot from the accident while Mr President (Tijani Babangida) and his family were taken to the hospital.”

Reacting to the news, Enoh, in a statement by his S.A. Media, Diana-Mary Nsan, offered his deepest sympathies and support to Babangida and his family.

He went on to emphasize the importance of unity and solidarity within the sports community as they mourn the loss of a beloved family member.

Enoh further urged “everyone to keep them in their thoughts and prayers.”
