Dutch club Sparta Rotterdam and Premier League side Watford have congratulated Eagles’ keeper Okoye, for the win over Egypt

Eredivisie league’s club Sparta Rotterdam, and their Premier League counterpart, Watford have congratulated Super Eagles’ goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye after Nigeria’s 1-0 victory over Egypt in the ongoing 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The two European clubs sent their felicitations via their Twitter accounts, praising the 24-year-old goalkeeper for his heroics during the encounter.
Nigeria defeated the seven-time African champions on Tuesday in a Group D encounter after Kelechi Iheanacho’s 30th minute goal settled the clash.

Reacting to the victory on Twitter, Watford praised Okoye and Eagles’ defender, William Troost-Ekong for their roles in the victory over Egypt and also congratulated them.
Watford wrote: “Well done, boys! A clean sheet for Troost-Ekong and @OkoyeMaduka in Nigeria’s victorious #AFCON2021 opener against Egypt!”
Dutch club, Sparta Rotterdam were not left out as they also sent congratulatory messages to Maduka Okoye, following his impressive display during the Super Eagles’ win in Cameroon.
“Congratulations @OkoyeMaduka and #TeamNigeria with the 1-0 victory in the @CAF_Online. Our home is in your colours! #NGAEGY.” Sparta posted.
Maduka Okoye signed for Watford last November and is currently on loan at Sparta Rotterdam until the end of the season, while William Troost-Ekong also plays for the Premier League club.
Nigeria are in Group D of the 2021 AFCON alongside Egypt, Sudan, and Guinea-Bissau and are expected to Sudan in their second group game on Saturday, January 15, 2022.
