The Super Falcons of Nigeria conceded late to lose their second Group C match against Spain on Sunday evening.
The encounter which ended 1-0 was the second for both sides in the ongoing Paris 2024 Women’s Olympic Football tournament in France.
The only goal of the game came in the 85th minute when Spain’s Alexia Putellas scored a direct free kick, which caught Nigeria’s goalkeeper, Nnadozie, off guard.

The Super Falcons had their chances to restore parity but failed to convert any as team captain, Rasheedat Ajibade, lost a one-on-one chance at goal.
La Roja with the win, have now booked their place in the quarterfinals of the tourney with a game to spare.
However, the loss leaves the Super Falcons at the bottom of Group C table with zero points, having lost their first match by 1-0 to Brazil.
Nigeria’s next game will be against Japan on Wednesday as the chances of qualification remain slim.
