Gareth Southgate has announced his decision to quit his position as manager of the England national team.
He made this known following England’s failure to lift the Euro 2024 which was held in Germany
On Sunday night, the Three Lions lost 2-1 against Spain in the final of the tournament.
The first half of the highly tactical encounter finished goalless as both teams struggled to find the net.
Spain, however, took the lead in the 47th minute when Nico Williams put them ahead after benefitting from a pass from Lamine Yamal.

England later restored parity through Cole Palmer, but Luis de la Fuente’s men regained the lead through Mikel Oyarzabal who finished an assist from Alvaro Morata to end the game 2-1 in favour of Spain.
Speaking on Tuesday while announcing his decision to quit his position, Southgate said it was an honour to play for and manage the England team.
He said, “As a proud Englishman, it has been the honour of my life to play for England and to manage England,”
“It has meant everything to me, and I have given it my all.
“But it’s time for change, and for a new chapter. I’m leaving my role.”
