Southern governors’ meeting on Buhari’s grazing reserve begins, two absent

Governors of southern states are currently meeting in Lagos to discuss President Muhammadu Buhari’s decision to reclaim land for open grazing purposes.

The president had said during an interview on ARISE TV that he had asked for the gazette on the grazing route of 1960 which he said would be reclaimed for the purpose of cattle grazing.

PM news says four governors sent their deputies – Godwin Obaseki (Edo), Hope Uzodinma (Imo), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia) and David Umahi (Ebonyi).

Two governors were absent, according to the online newspaper. They are; Ben Ayade of Cross River and Willie Obiano (Anambra).

The governors who are currently present at the meeting are; Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State; Gboyega Oyetola, Osun State; Kayode Fayemi, Ekiti State; Rotimi Akeredolu, Ondo State; Ifeanyi Okowa, Delta State; Nyesom Wike, Rivers State; Udom Emmanuel, Akwa- Ibom; Douye Diri, Bayelsa State; Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, among others.
