An infection dignosed to be ‘Sore throat’ hindered World 100mh Champion Tobi Amusan’s bid of becoming the third Nigerian high hurdler to win the 100m hurdles three times at the African Athletics Championships.
The world record holder was entered to compete on Friday in the first semi-final heat of the event at the ongoing 23rd African Athletics Championships in Douala, Cameroon on Friday but the world record holder in the event did not show up.
It was however revealed that Amusan was unwell and had to skip the event she hoping to win for the third consecutive time after winning in 2018 and 2022.
Only the duo of Maria Usifo and Glory Alozie hold the record of three consecutive wins in the history of the Championships.
