Onyedum said: “Anambra athletes have been properly motivated ahead of the National Sports Festival. We ensured that the athletes had a befitting closed Camp before the festival proper and the state government made us comfortable.

“The Governor has informed the commission of his intention to reward excellent athletes and those that win laurels for the state.

“Some of the athletes participating in this year’s festival are those that won silver and bronze at past National Sports Festivals and I am optimistic that the athletes will land more gold medals”.

He further said, “I am focused on how to improve the grassroots sports in Anambra state. We have athletes scattered across the state and by the Grace of God, Anambra will once again be the ‘Mecca of Sports’ in Nigeria.”
