Soludo congratulates Babangida at 81

Anambra State Governor Professor Charles Soludo on Wednesday congratulated former Military President General Ibrahim Babangida (retd.) on the occasion of his 81st birthday.

Soludo noted that as a former Military President of Nigeria and an Army General attaining the age of 81 years is deserving of celebration and gratitude to God.

“As the erstwhile Military President of Nigeria and an elder statesman, I heartily congratulate you on this milestone achievement of attaining the age of 81 years.

“On behalf of my family, the government and good people of Anambra State, I wish you the very best on your 81st birthday,” Soludo said, according to a statement by his Press Secretary, Christian Aburime.

Babangida served as Military President from 1985 until his resignation in 1993.

The former military leader joined the Nigerian Army on December 10, 1962, where he attended the Nigerian Military Training College in Kaduna.

Babangida received his commission as a second lieutenant as a regular combatant officer in the Royal Nigerian Army (a month before it became the Nigerian Army) with the personal army number N/438 from the Indian Military Academy on September 26, 1963. Babangida attended the Indian Military Academy from April to September 1963.

He was born on August 17, 1941 in Minna to his father, Muhammad Babangida and mother Aisha Babangida.
