#EndSars Campaigner, Segun Awosanya, popularly called Segalink, is being bashed by social media buffs over his link with a GoFundMe account set up to support Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of PDP on the February 23 elections.

Segalink has shared the account on Twitter asking people to support Atiku’s bid to challenge Buhari in court.

He said he did not create the account but merely supported the idea and chose to donate to it.

“I did not create it, please. I merely support the rationale behind it & choose to donate to it. I have no running GoFundMe account linked to my name or brand. Please correct this perception and ask why there’s confusion in their camp because of one man”, Segalink said.

He also said he has supported other GoFundMe accounts for various candidates among the elites, including the Young Progressives Party (YPP) candidate, Kingsley Moghalu.

“I supported GoFundMe for virtually all the new candidates amidst the elitists. From Moghalu, Fela, Sowore, Oby to BankyW. The tweets are there. But because this one is a threat to their demigod, they put all their online almajiris on attack mode. You will all die hating, he said.

Many people said the account was a scam especially as Atiku has distanced himself from it.

But others have come to the defence of the activist saying he did not mean to profit from the account.

Joe Abah said he believes Segalink has no intention of making a profit from the account.

I do not believe that @segalink intended to derive any personal financial benefit from supporting a GoFundMe account that he said he didn’t even create. It appears that he was mistaken that it was an official GoFundMe account. We all make mistakes. It doesn’t make us fraudsters.

The account has since been taken down.
